15 Days of Fame - Air Guitar

My Air Guitar was first created as the Wearable Interactive Systems (WIS) to explore how textiles could be used to monitor subtle movements in real time and to create interactive experiences and movement interventions to help improve technique and have fun. A key feature of this wearable technology is its ability to be customised to individual attributes and allow unrestricted movement and real-time feedback in the natural performance environment. The technology was first shown to the world as an ‘Air Guitar’ and CSIRO's multi-media press-release led to rapid worldwide interest in the WIS story for over two weeks from 13/11/2006.

For example, On November 13th, the air guitar story was the seventh most viewed story in the world on www.yahoo.com and was broadcast on the BBC World Service news, [audience more than 160 million people world wide], was the third most watched video on the CBS News website in the USA (November 14th 2006) and featured strongly in The Times and The Guardian online in the UK, running in newspaper websites around the world, including the China Daily.
